Should Pro-Life Activists be Involved with Sex Ed Sit Out?

Sunday, April 22, 2018

If you’ve been on social media at all in the past few days, you may have noticed tomorrow’s national event “Sex Ed Sit Out” is gaining popularity. Headed by Activist Mommy’s own Elizabeth Johnston, this movement encourages parents to pull their children out of school for one day and protest inappropriate sexual education in schools around the world. Sexedsitout.com shares their intent:

“A grassroots movement of frustrated public school parents is turning their frustration into action. These parents want to end the sexualization of their children during class time. To achieve that purpose, they are holding a ‘Sex Ed Sit Out’ protest on Monday, April 23rd, 2018. This protest was initiated by a few moms on social media who were troubled by the graphic nature of current sex education resources in schools. It has since grown into a global movement with protests being planned in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.”

A disturbing fact not many parents of public school children know is that Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of sex education in the United States. [1] Why would the world’s leading supplier of abortion be interested in educating children young and old on sexuality? Put simply, how would an abortion chain ever make its quota if they did not also influence the demand?

By allowing Planned Parenthood to educate the children of our modern day (and the work of the enemy in general) we see a crumbling society that believes with every fiber of its being that gender is fluid, truth is relative, and children are disposable. Do you want those who have come to believe these deceptions to be ones to tell your children what sexuality is?

The church seems so perplexed that its youth leave its doors exponentially, all the while placing their young, shapeable kids with school teachers who have an agenda to instill their cultural-nightmare of a worldview into every child within their scope of influence.

What exactly does Planned Parenthood’s sex ed include? (Quotes are my depiction of the philosophy they encourage).

  • Human development; they consider “gender identity” to be a very key part of their instruction on this subject. “You might be a girl who feels like a boy. Or maybe you don’t feel like either gender. Some boys have a boy body, but they’re a girl on the inside.”
  • Relationships; “Traditionally, marriage was defined as a union between one man and one woman, but don’t feel pressured by all that! You might be a female who wants to be with another female, or maybe five females. Anything is fine, as long as it feels right to you.”
  • “Sexual Behavior;” “In church they tell you purity and abstinence are good ideas, but really it comes down to the way you tick. If you like the idea of being abstinent, be abstinent (don’t worry, we’ll tell you 5,000 reasons why not to be), but if you want to be with twenty people before you graduate high school, hey, we’ve got abortion and birth control available for you!”
  • Sexual Health “Birth control for you, and you, and you, and you!” “Shhh! Don’t tell your parents, but you can skip the whole abstinence thing without them knowing if you get some oral contraceptive!” “Pregnancy is unsafe, especially for minority groups, so please call 1-800-PLANNED PARENTHOOD to schedule your painless, empowering abortion.”

And there are other topics too!

I don’t know about you, but I find it horrifying and deeply disturbing that pro-abortion activists get to have a microphone and presentation time with schools. It is very clear that Planned Parenthood wants to influence those in our culture to believe that the only thing that may guide them well is their flesh. You can see the work of the enemy written all over it; look at this passage in Romans, where Paul speaks about being dead to sin and alive in Christ:

“Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:16-23).

As we instruct and shape our young people, we must share Truth with them. The only freedom is in Christ; Planned Parenthood is on a mission to get kids to act on their sexual desires, to confuse them about gender, and to essentially tell them they are their own god. Each of these points directly defy the Word of God. Parents must chose: will their children be brainwashed by an organization after their hearts, money, and babies, or will their children be educated on what God intends for sexuallity. (I can tell you His Word is a FAR better instruction manual on sexuality than anything Planned Parenthood has ever produced in 100 years).

Should we as pro-life activists care about this sex ed walk out? I must say YES! If we truly care about the unborn, we must care about how people are being taught to view life. We will never ever have a culture of protecting life if we continue to throw the minds and hearts of the young to Planned Parenthood. May we intentionally stand in the gap for every life! Including school-age children.

The way we teach children to look at the lives around them has the potential to impact generation after generation.

Planned Parenthood has an agenda; their goal is to have every high school girl coming through their doors for 3-5 abortions before they get their diplomas. [2] Do you want your children to be fed that message? Do you want your sons and daughters to see themselves as victims of their fleshly desires?

Or will you be one of the few who says, “I will not stand by” and defend the vulnerable hearts of your children and children around the world?

Everyone has a response to this issue. May ours not be a passive one.

Let it not be said that I was silent when they needed me. // William Wilberforce
